Kitchen Reveal

Whew, it is finally finished :) I have to say that this is one happy family...haha.  Back in April of 2006, we moved into our small little bungalow.  Mr. Adkins had not been accepted into Pharmacy school yet and we did not have Miss B.  Looking back it brings back so many memories as this was and is our first home :)  We are very, very blessed to have this bungalow (Our Church Parsonage) to call "Home".  It is over 40 years old and was my In-laws first home as well...pretty cool, huh?

Here are some pictures of when we first moved in:

(Notice no wall cabinets to the left)

(Refrigerator and stove are in different places)

(No wall cabinets)

We did a small makeover back in 2008 with new paint and wall cabinets.

Then in 2011, we had to do something to the dangerous floor.  The green marble (peel and stick) tile was coming up and with a 2 year old it was not safe!  Soooo, a trip to Lowes we went!  Yay, I was getting a new floor :)

Look how happy she is!!!

Bungalow Remodeling....{Kitchen Makeover} PART FOUR

Patience…what is the meaning of that word??? *sigh*….

pa·tience

~

bearing provocation, annoyance, misfortune, delay,hardship, pain, etc., with fortitude and calm and withoutcomplaint, anger, or the like.

I thought the process of a {small, mini} kitchen makeover would go a lot faster….BUT... it has not.  The light fixture is up {YAY}, the paint is on the walls, wood floor down…

and yet

the backsplash needs to be put up, shelving installed, and accessories up (fun part)

I'm learning the song I taught Miss B {VERY WELL}

"Have Patience"

(make sure the volume is up)
;P

Have patience, have patience
Don't be in such a hurry
When you get impatient
You only start to worry
Remember , remember that God is patient too
Just think of all the times when others wait on you

Bungalow Remodeling....{Kitchen Makeover} PART THREE

This post is long overdue!!  My apologies ~ it's been a busy, busy week.  I'll start of by saying there is new paint on the walls of the kitchen...and it is PERFECT!

...a lot better than the yellow...huh?

Paint color we chose:

Smoked Oyster
Valspar

Next step: Hanging the new light fixture ~ the paint color will look amazing with the correct lighting!!

{old fixture}
...it's cute, but not for a kitchen.

Bungalow Remodeling....{Kitchen Makeover} PART TWO

If you are just tuning in, the Bungalow is undergoing a "much needed" kitchen renovation.  Yesterday started the 1st day of it all by laying down the new flooring, which I LOVE!!!!  It took the guys from 1pm to 6:30pm to complete...and boy did they make it look like a whole new room!

Pictures taken while in process of taking green marble "peel and stick tile" up and laying new floor.

Miss B, not knowing who they were or why they were in her house, kept by my side all day long...my shadow.  She called them "the mans".  Her curiosity would get the best of her and she would run the hallway from the "Tinkering room" to the kitchen, put her hand on her hips and say "I just looking" and run right back to my side.  Thirty minutes before they were done with the flooring, she warmed up to them being in the house and went to her room and played. Thinking that it was a big victory that she went to her room to play
{ALL BY HERSELF} she calls out "I made it, mommy!!" HA!!

When the guys were done laying the flooring, I went in and squealed with delight!

What an AMAZING difference!

Please excuse the blanket...we were getting ready to paint!!

Isn't it beautiful??  We are truly thankful that we can now run and slide on the new floor instead of the floor catching our socks :P

Bungalow Remodeling....{Kitchen Makeover} PART ONE

Good Monday morning to you! Hope all my lovelies had a wonderful and restful weekend.  The beginning of 2010, the hubby and I decided that a few rooms in the Home SWEET Bungalow needed a little and ALOT of TLC!

To give you a quick summary of our HOME:
We currently reside at our church's parsonage (Mr. Adkins and I are the associate pastors) in which I have named the BUNGALOW.  It is a 2 Bedroom/ 1Bath dwelling place...one in which we are TRULY grateful for.  With Mr. Adkins still being a full time student and I being a full time stay-at-home mommy the upgrades at the BUNGALOW have had to be put on hold.   We moved in 5 years ago and have made a lot of improvements.  My family is always teasing me that every time they come over the house is rearranged. Ha!   I guess that is my way of trying to keep the Bungalow fresh and new.  I am a organizer/design/cleaning Nerd!!!! Call me crazy but I LOVE it!

The kitchen, main hang out in the "Adkins Household" needs an uplift...in a bad way.  The tile (hunter green marble look...ewww eww ewww) is peeling up and we are always getting our socks caught and once it decides to release the sock... we go flying!

Well, this weekend  we went and picked out our SwiftLock Hardwood flooring.

FLOORING: Fireside Oak Swiftlock

TODAY, it's being put down and I am ecstatic beyond words!!

This was us acting goofy after we bought our flooring.  We were soo excited that we laid a few pieces down to give us an idea of what it would look like...haha :0)

Such a BIG helper...

A ballerina dance on the new floor :0)

Cute saying from Miss B:
While all the sanding and sawing is underway for the new kitchen floor, the smell of wood being cut enters into the room where Miss B and I are.  She looks up at me and says "Mommy I want Popcorn!"  I start dying laughing when I think of how the wood being cut smells just like fresh, popped popcorn. haha.. Oh, I just love how little minds think :P

Make sure you check back in for....
